Mopos was relaunched in winter 2025 with a completely revamped user experience, but still uses the same tried-and-tested economic model.

Overview

The Mopos web-based simulation clearly illustrates how monetary policy is conducted, with the aim of ensuring price stability while taking due account of economic developments.

  • The simulation game can be played in pairs or in small groups.
  • For class, we recommend using the scenario mode, which offers a choice of four predefined scenarios.
  • Each one includes a briefing that describes the initial situation and the task.
  • Upon completion of a scenario, feedback is displayed directly in the simulation.
  • This is followed by a debriefing session with the whole class, based on the key questions posed in the briefing.

In Mopos, players adopt the role of members of a central bank’s board. This role involves them conducting a series of monetary policy assessments, each of which results in an interest rate decision.
