Updated every quarter (every six months in the case of the English and Italian versions), the Iconomix ‘Economic trends’ unit is an attractive and practical way of teaching the topic of economics that is always up to date.
Each edition is based on excerpts from the SECO publication of the same name and is divided into four short sections. The study assignments are incorporated directly in the text. They are intended to facilitate understanding of the SECO texts, and include tasks marked ✪ designed to encourage further thought.
Each edition of the Iconomix ‘Economic trends’ unit comprises four sections: ‘International and monetary environment’, ‘Economic situation in Switzerland’, ‘Economic forecasts for Switzerland’ and ‘Economic risks’. Each of the four short sections contains an average of five tasks. Each edition of ‘Economic trends’ is around six pages long in total.
In addition to the worksheet, the following material is available: a slide set containing the charts and tables from the latest SECO publication, an Excel spreadsheet with Swiss economic data from BAK Economics AG (commissioned by Iconomix) and a set of background slides from Professor Aymo Brunetti at the University of Bern. The elements can be combined flexibly depending on the desired level of difficulty.
