Educational concept behind iconomix
This section provides information on the educational guidelines and objectives of iconomix, as well as on how iconomix can be integrated into the curriculum.
Teaching with iconomix modules
The iconomix modules are structured teaching units on the basic principles of economics and are taught over the course of several lessons.
In the short video clip, entitled «Ökonomie entdecken – ein Einblick in den Unterricht» (in German only), you will get a brief insight into how other teachers use iconomix modules in class and hear what students have to say.
Learning with iconomix modules (in German (584 KB) and French (842 KB) only) describes the educational content, the skills framework and the educational concept behind the iconomix modules.
A series of documents provides information on the integration of the iconomix modules into the curricula of Swiss upper secondary schools, sorted by type of school.
Teaching with iconomix elements
The iconomix elements comprise adaptable and practical case studies, games and economic texts, which can be integrated with relative ease into lesson plans that have already been drawn up.
Many of the elements deal with economics-related issues of current relevance and have been designed to complement teaching resources commonly used in Swiss upper secondary schools, like standard textbooks or videos.
Further information can be found in Teaching with iconomix elements (in German only).
Educational objectives of iconomix
The educational objective of iconomix is to promote economic skills.
Young people should be able to understand the basic principles of economics and apply them in the decisions they take in everyday life.
Another important area of focus for iconomix is the promotion of basic financial skills (in German only).
